My passion for fishing began at the age of seven. Together with my grandfather, I would visit a local trout fishery, where the foundation was laid for a lifelong love of angling. What started as a hobby quickly grew into a true passion.

As a child, I spent every free moment by the water. I started with a pole rod, but around the age of thirteen I discovered carp fishing. From that moment on, I was hooked. Local waters became my playground, and no distance was too far. With a bicycle and a cart full of tackle, I would often set off in the middle of the night to secure a good swim. At that time, night fishing was not yet permitted, which meant that determination and creativity were just as important as having the right approach.

At the age of sixteen, I was introduced to the Albert Canal. It would become my greatest challenge and, more than thirty years later, it still is. Stretching over 129 kilometres, with its heavy commercial traffic, numerous lock complexes and constantly changing conditions, the Albert Canal is a venue that can never be fully mastered.

It is precisely this unpredictability that attracts me. Carp are constantly moving between different sections and lock stretches, meaning that every session starts with observing, analysing and adapting. No two days on the canal are ever the same. Every bite still gives me the same adrenaline rush as it did years ago, and every fish landed feels like a reward for the time, preparation and dedication invested.

Over the years, I have not only gained valuable experience but also developed a deep respect for the water, nature and carp fishing itself. My goal is to continue improving and evolving as an angler, always striving to learn more and refine my approach.

A key part of my fishing is the confidence I have in my tackle. For many years, I have relied on the Gardner Tackle range. For me, carp fishing is much more than a hobby. It is a lifestyle and a passion that has been a major part of my life for more than thirty years.
