Helicopter Rig featuring Drop Out Chod Clips

What you’ll need
Step 1 – Start off by assembling the components for a helicopter rig. Note the buffer bead is soft textured so it won’t inhibit the Chod Clip discharging the lead.

Step 2 – Splice a Q-Ring or similarly sized rig ring onto the lead end of the leader. The ring off of a Flexi Ring Swivel is also ideal.
Step 3 – Trim off any excess material left from the splice before pulling down tight and securing the splice under pressure.

Step 4 – It should look a little like this.
Step 5 – for most general medium range work the lighter, thinner gauge Chod Clip works fine (3lb), but the heavier clip is ideal for longer range and larger leads.

Step 6 – Position the components like this. The Chod Clip acts as an ultra reliable ‘weak link’. It just needs to be sheathed to keep the components in place now…
Step 7 – Finished and ready to attach your chosen rig. The soft ‘silt coloured’ Covert Buffer bead stretches nicely over the Q-Ring and Drop Out Chod Safety Clip.
