Gardner Tackle team members Lewis Read, Alan Stagg and Calum Kletta recently took a trip out to the famous Abbey Lakes in France to do some filming for the Gardner Tackle website and YouTube Channel. They arrived to find the lakes had been fishing slowly, with temperatures falling to -11 a few days before, but with warmer weather forecast over the coming days conditions looked like they might be on the up.
Alan decided to set up on Heron lake, while Lewis and Calum set about targeting Fox lake. Alan was the first off the mark with a stunning 36lb common, which fell to a cautious approach of relying on a solid PVA approach. Alan’s used 15lb Pro carp main line, a long length of Plummet leadcore, 15lb Trickster braid, a size 10 Covert Continental Mugga hook, which balanced two pieces of Enterprise Tackle imitation corn perfectly.
Rising carp star Calum Kletta soon got amongst the Fox lake residents and after casting at showing fish bagged a chunky 41lb mirror, a new foreign PB. Light Blend Pro carp, 20lb Trip Wire and a size 5 Covert Chod hook doing the business.
After a quiet night, Calum and Gardner Tackle’s Product Development manager Lewis Read decided on a move to Heron Lake in search of a whacker. This proved a good decision as Calum bagged an awesome brace of carp which consisted of a 38lb 4oz mirror and a 50lb 8oz mirror known as the M5. Light blend Pro Carp, size 6 Covert Incizor’s and maize hook baits proved the winning combination, breaking his foreign PB set only hours before!
