Target Team Member Sam Meeuwissen has been getting amongst some nice fish on a local stretch of the River Thames in Berkshire. Predominantly after the barbel that inhabit this particular stretch, it has come as no surprise that Sam has landed some nice carp and chub along the way. Using his tried and tested Carbelling method of ledgering large boilies whilst feeding plenty of Sticky’s Krill and using his own mix of groundbait supplied by the Hookbait Company, Sam has certainly kept them fed and in the area.
A full account of his two autumns on the Thames is available to read in this months Coarse Angling Today, where he spills all the beans regarding methods, tactics and some stories of success along the way. However, Sam has been very kind and allowed us to show this sneak preview of a very fine 28lb 12oz River Thames carp prior to the main article publication.
As our Lewis pointed out, it’s straight out of Oxford, and no doubt an escapee from the 2007 floods. As you can see, it has been doing well in it’s new home! Sam also managed a rake of giant chub, topped by a 7lb 4oz specimen with plenty of six pound plus fish to back it up. As per usual with our Sam, Covert Talon Tips hooks, Covert Hook Aligners, 12lb Hydro Tuff and Disruption hooklinks were doing the business for him once again.
