Wayne Rees

“Wayne has been fishing for around 10 years with a progression from smaller course species to carp at present. Wayne believes that the gradual progression has proved well with watercraft and fish behaviour being learnt. Wayne states that he is still at the early stages of a ‘Specimen’ carp angler. As he has only had one season on his syndicate however the results have shown he has caught some cracking fish with a 38lbs 8oz common his best so far. Wayne intends on persisting with his syndicate as there is a 40lb+ common which he has his sights set on and with larger mirrors inhabiting the 24 acre lake he hopes his time pays off.

His favourite types of fishing include stalking and surfacing fishing, allowing him to maximise his time on short sessions. He finds most pleasure on waters where he can actively work for his catches and mainly uses his syndicate for pure tranquillity (Also to catch big fish).

Wayne entered the British Carp Angling Championships for the first time in 2010 with Luke Church another sponsored angler from Gardner tackle. They won their qualifier and qualified for the final and went onto be crowned Champions. Great work!

With fishing a great part of Wayne’s life he decided to undertake a degree in Fishery Management and Aquaculture. He is now in his 3rd and final year and will graduate later this year. His views are that you work for a large proportion of your life so it’s best to do something that you enjoy. At the end of Wayne’s degree he will also be a fully qualified angling coach, which he intends to use once graduating.

With a lot planned for 2011 on the match style of carping, both Wayne and Luke already have many events booked up such as the BCAC semi final 1, Midlands Masters, Coking farm pairs match. Watch this space…”.
